As part of its mission to promote the scholarly study of Connecticut history, ASCH presents three prizes at its annual conference, usually held in November. Works may be nominated by the author or by someone other than the author, and a copy of the work or a detailed description should be sent to the Awards Chair along with a letter of nomination by June 30 of a given year. Nominations for the Fraser Award should include images. The Homer D. Babbidge, Jr., Award is named in honor of Homer D. Babbidge, historian, educator, and president of the University of Connecticut from 1962 to 1972. ASCH invites nominations for this award for the best monograph on a significant aspect of Connecticut’s history published in a calendar year. The Betty M. Linsley Award is named for Betty M. Linsley, history teacher, librarian, archivist, and genealogist, and honors her work in promoting the study, teaching, and preservation of Connecticut history. ASCH invites nominations for this award to recognize the best work on a significant aspect of Connecticut’s history published by, for, or on behalf of a Connecticut historical society or organization in a calendar year.  Works that are eligible include monographs, articles, exhibitions, films, television programs, cassette tapes or DVDs, finding aids, or guides to manuscript collections, subject bibliographies, etc.  Also considered will be persons or organizations whose achievements as a whole, rather than a specific work, merit recognition. The Bruce Fraser Award is named in honor of Bruce Fraser, scholar, activist, and director of the (then) Connecticut Humanities Council (now Connecticut Humanities) from 1982 to 2010.  The award honors Fraser’s work in supporting and promoting the study, teaching, and preservation of Connecticut history and sharing that history with residents of the State of Connecticut. ASCH invites nominations for this award to recognize the best work on a significant aspect of Connecticut’s public history published or presented in a given year.  Works that are eligible include, monographs, articles, exhibitions, films, television programs, CDs, DVDs, or electronic resources.  Also considered will be persons or organizations whose achievements as a whole, rather than a specific work, merit recognition.
