The Encounters Model is a format for discussion that was begun at the University of
Connecticut. This model is based on facilitated, small-group dialogues followed by a
“question and answer”-style conversation. Based on several primary source documents,
this discussion will focus on the environment and environmental issues in Connecticut.
The session will be moderated by Sally Whipple from the Old State House and Yesenia
Karas, Social Studies Intern at the Connecticut Department of Education.
